Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor recently spoke with WDHA about being termed “relatable,” “fearless,” and “inspired by his songwriting,” as well as what he thinks of impersonators. “That’s really cool, I love hearing that.” Perhaps it’s because I’ve never tried to be someone I’m not. I know a lot of folks in this industry who are completely different when the cameras are turned off. They put on a full character and just try to be who they think people want them to be.” When told that certain followers want him to be ‘one person’ and not go in a new way, Taylor responded:

“You know it’s not- it’s only if that’s important to you, because I’ve always said the whole reason I do this is because I love music.” That doesn’t imply you’ll like everything I make, but it does mean you’ll get what I want to play, what I want to make, and what I want you to hear. When you start from that point, you can kind of establish the tone for everyone.” Just as the frontman dislikes ‘fake’ rock musicians, he dislikes new rock music as well. Taylor highlighted his hatred for modern rock music in a prior interview, which took place in February 2021, because it “sounded the same.” He acknowledged: “For the most part, I despise new rock.

I look at some of these bands that sound like this, that, or the other guy, and it’s just, like, they obviously listened to two albums that have been out for a minute.” Taylor’s new solo album ‘CMF2’ will be released on September 15th. The track ‘Beyond’ is now available for download, and you can listen to it here.
