Elton John, who has been given the title of ‘Sir’ by Queen Elizabeth II of England, is preparing to say goodbye to the music industry with his final UK gig at Glastonbury. He revealed the following details about the upcoming show to BBC Radio 2: “I’ve performed at festivals and had a great time. But, of course, Glastonbury is the crowning achievement. To tell you the truth, this is the first time I’ve been requested to play it. It just happened to arrive at the appropriate time. I believe in serendipity and fate, and this is the most lovely way to leave England. They’ve been fantastic. Emily [Eavis, festival co-organizer] has been wonderful.” With 292 audio speakers, John will perform on Glastonbury’s largest stage, the 25-meter-tall Pyramid Stage. The setlist for the Glastonbury event will also alter from that of the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour. John will continue to perform in Europe until July 2023, following his farewell show Farewell Yellow Brick Road in 2018. The farewell tour, which was supposed to end in 2021, has been postponed several times due to both the epidemic and the hip injury he has suffered.
