He recently discovered a new gem in the music world, a vocalist whose soulful voice has left him speechless. Meet Saint Harison, a rising talent from Southampton whose vocal prowess has prompted Elton John to compare her to the late Amy Winehouse. Elton John recently shared a clip from his newest Rocket Hour conversation with Harison on Instagram. During the discussion, Elton John discussed the influences on Harison’s musical career, drawing parallels with Amy Winehouse. When they discussed Harison’s sources of inspiration, John couldn’t help but notice the connection to Winehouse. According to Elton John’s Instagram post: “On this week’s Rocket Hour, I’m joined by the incredibly talented Saint Harison – what a voice!” His new EP ‘lost a friend’ is out now, and I’ll be playing two of his other tunes, as well as new music from Flo, Stephen Sanchez, the Chemical Brothers, and many others, on Apple Music starting at 5 p.m. BST.” During the conversation, Elton John stated the following to Saint Harison: “Your influences clearly include SZA, Whitney Houston, Billie Eilish, and Amy Winehouse.” I see so many parallels between you and Amy Winehouse because you do what she did.
“Have you always had this voice?” Harison replied: “I began singing when I was seven years old.” I used to sing with Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, to name a few. My grandfather was a major Motown fan, as well as a huge fan of divas and big vocals.” John went on to praise Harison’s musical ability: “You have a fantastic career ahead of you.” We’ll always be rooting for you on the show, on the Rocket Hour, because it’s so unusual to come across someone with such a fantastic voice that knocks you for six. It’s incredible. And I commend you on everything because you haven’t made a horrible record or a bad vocal, you’re absolutely fantastic.” Saint Harison’s latest EP ‘lost a friend’ is already making ripples in the music world after a rapid start to his career. Two of his tunes got nearly a million views on YouTube in a short period of time. Harison’s future in the music industry is as bright as it gets, with Justin Bieber and Timbaland rallying behind him and now Elton John giving his support.
