Following his departure from Guns N’ Roses, former guitarist Izzy Stradlin has kept a low public presence. While his present whereabouts have remained unknown, ex-manager Vicky Hamilton recently shed some light on the subject in an interview with Appetite for Distortion. When questioned where the guitarist was, Hamilton responded by saying: “I believe he’s in Ojai.
” It’s where I believe he is. I don’t have any evidence, but that’s what I’ve heard.” Stradlin’s attitude to the possibility of new music was as follows: “You know, he should. I’m certainly going to receive some flak for this, but in my opinion, Izzy is the band’s best writer.” Izzy did not participate in the band’s 2016 ‘Not In This Lifetime… Tour,’ which represented a big reunion of the original Guns N’ Roses lineup.
Later, he indicated that his absence was due to a lack of common ground with the other band members, which Slash corroborated in a 2022 Classic Rock interview. During the conversation, the band’s guitarist stated: “I haven’t talked to him much since then.” There were a variety of concerns that I won’t go into detail about. We both wanted it to work out, but we couldn’t seem to agree on anything. So that just didn’t happen.”
Izzy Stradlin’s involvement with his former bandmates has been minimal since his departure. In 1993, 2006, and 2012, the guitarist filled in for Guns N’ Roses on a few gigs. He did, however, reject the idea of a full-fledged reconciliation with them.
