Michelle Rodriguez teases Letty’s future in the Fast & Furious franchise following the conclusion of the main Fast Saga series of movies.
Michelle Rodriguez, who starred in Fast X, hints at Letty’s potential return to the Fast & Furious series after the completion of the finale. Rodriguez joined the franchise for the first time in its 2001 original and returned for the majority of the follow-ups, including Louis Leterrier’s Fast X. The most recent movie is anticipated to be the beginning of a big conclusion for the main protagonists, with one or perhaps even two more movies planned to wrap up the Fast Saga.
In a recent interview with Variety regarding the approaching end of the Fast Saga, Rodriguez teases that Letty’s role in Fast & Furious could continue even after the finale. It may, however, she explains, look a little different. Check out Rodriguez’s full comment or watch the video interview below:
“You pass the baton on, you take the backseat, you go passenger side, you do all of these things. When it comes to the next generation you have to [sit shotgun] it’s the only way to let them define the future.”
How Legacy Characters Can Return In Future Fast & Furious Movies
Rogriguez’s answer regarding Letty’s future in the Fast & Furious universe can actually be applied to other legacy characters like Dom (Vin Diesel), Mia (Jordana Brewster), Han (Sung Kang), Roman (Tyrese Gibson), and Tej (Chris “Ludacris” Bridges). While these characters’ time in the spotlight may be coming to an end, it’s fair to assume that the world of Fast & Furious will live on in the form of spinoffs and potentially even a new saga after Fast & Furious 11 or Fast & Furious 12 is released.
The franchise may be carried further by new characters like Tess (played by Brie Larson), Isabel (played by Daniela Melchior), or Ramsey (played by Nathalie Emmanuel), with the original cast members returning in more of a supporting role. After the conclusion, there may be a significant time leap, with Brian (the late Paul Walker) and Mia’s son growing up and going on their own adventures with Dom’s son.
However, it is crucial that the saga’s conclusion, whether it comes with Fast & Furious 11 or a twelfth movie, give the main cast of characters a befitting sendoff rather than just setting them up for future appearances or supporting parts. While there is no reason why enduring characters can’t appear in whatever the Fast & Furious franchise does next, it also feels long past time for the Fast Saga to wind down and provide a fitting conclusion to a tale that has spanned more than two decades.
