Mark Knopfler paid Tina Turner tribute on Twitter lately, honoring the late singer’s memory and the ‘difficult times’ she’d lived through.
The Dire Straits rocker also provided an exclusive peek into Turner’s personal life and ‘celebrated’ career, how she affected big industry players, and the only title the late singer wished to receive, with the following: “The world has been saddened to learn of the death of our beloved Tina Turner.” She was a living being, a human dynamo. Tina displayed no resentment for a difficult childhood, a violent marriage, and the difficult circumstances that followed her divorce from Ike Turner. Instead, she channeled her superhuman energy into her unique interpretations of songs, and her CDs eventually sold in the millions…
Meanwhile, a musical based on her life is being performed in theaters across the country… She was an inspiration to women of all ages and social backgrounds, and she was idolized by celebrities such as Beyonce and Rihanna. Tina stated that she wanted to be known as the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, and that is exactly what she became.” Following the rocker’s death at the age of 83, Knopfler wasn’t the only musician to pay tribute to Tina, as you can see how Mick Jagger, KISS’ Paul Stanley, and Sting did. And if you want to learn more about Tina’s work and life, I recommend you read this piece, which details the moment Turner admitted she was ready to die.
